Years of hard work and excellent coordination. Thanks to our manufacturing partners, Cadinox, AVS and thanks to all the people involved from ESS Bilbao and ESS for the good coordination. This complex component will finally be installed in the Target Station at ESS site. Its one of the key In Kind contributions from Spain to the European project.

The Monolith Vessel is a component which isolates the critical components of the Target environment, target, moderator reflector from the external atmosphere. The vessel has been manufactured of stainless steel, good for its corrosion resistance properties and moderate radiation resistance. Its functions are basically maintain helium or vacuum atmosphere inside its volume; support its own weight; support the dead weight of shielding blocks, target, proton beam window, target instrumentation, plug, moderator and instrumentation plug; provide connection positions for electrical supply, cooling circuits and instrumentation and also limit the deformations pf the drive unit.
