Functions

Design and construct cutting-edge scientific instrumentation within a dynamic international team of multidisciplinary engineers.

Support the design, construction, and integration of a diverse range of MIRACLES instrument´s components, including neutron guides, high-performance positioning systems, and large vacuum vessels.

Deliver the instrument to hot commissioning according to scope, budget and schedule of the MIRACLES project. Ensure, in close collaboration with the lead engineer, the successful completion of the neutron instrument project.

Lead the following up of the installation of the complete neutron instrument, including its cold commissioning.

Coordinate on-site contractors and internal resources to facilitate and expedite systems integration and installation.

Provide an on-site interface between ESS Bilbao and ESS Technical Groups.

Contribute to the coordination of design and technical activities between the MIRACLES team and ESS Technical Groups.

Participate to technical reviews, supporting and advising instrument team how to fulfil the technical requirements of the instruments.

Support the drafting and editing of technical documentation such as technical specifications, design descriptions, installation and maintenance documentation.

Take part in the FAT testing of components, which will require occasional travel to Spain or other countries.
Locations
- The position is a permanent, full-time position at ESS Bilbao. After an initial on-boarding period at Bilbao (2-3 months), the selected candidate will be relocated to Lund, Sweden for a period of 2-3 years.
Training requirements
- University degree (MSc, BSc) in mechanical engineering.
